Due to a street art festival in Oakland called First Friday it will be difficult to get to and from the ceremony from the hotels in the Uptown neighborhood, so we would discourage folks staying there. This includes: The Clarion Hotel, Sutter Hotel, The Marriott City Center, and the Washington Inn. The festival takes up several blocks near those hotels and runs from 5pm-9pm, with spillover events in the local bars, clubs, and restaurants afterward.

We recommend trying AirBnB, The Waterfront Hotel in Jack London, or the Inn at Temescal.
